Easy Care - A term used to describe wholesale linens that require a minimum amount of ironing and other post-laundering treatment to be restored to their ready to be used state.
Edge Abrasion - Wear on the folded edge of a fabric that has rubbed against another surface. Edge abrasion is most often used in reference to cuffs, collars, and upholstered furniture.
Edge Roll - The curl that develops at the edge of a single-knit fabric preventing it from lying flat.
Egyptian Cotton - A type of cotton grown in Northern Africa and the Middle East with a unique sheen to the surface of the fiber and a staple length longer than average cotton.
Elasticity - The ability of a strained textile to recover its original size and shape immediately after elimination of the force causing the strain.
Embellished - A term used to describe a textile with a surface decoration sewn, embroidered, printed, or otherwise attached to it during some period of time after the textile product was originally manufactured.
Embossing - A process for producing a raised effect on fabric surfaces. Embossed surfaces are usually produced on fabrics by engraved, heated rollers. Embossed velvet or plush is made by shearing the pile to different levels or by pressing part of the pile flat.
Embroidery - Ornamental decoration applied to a textile by a person or machine that uses thread to create the design.
Eyelet - A series of small cut-outs in a textile surrounded by tight stitching (such as a button hole) made to pass through a string, tape, button, or similar object.
