Yardage - A linear expression of an amount of fabric (length) without regard for the fabric's width.

Yard Goods - Fabric sold in less than full bolts at a price per linear yard.

Yarn - A generic term for a continuous strand of textile fibers, filaments, or material in a form suitable for knitting, weaving, or otherwise intertwining to form a textile fabric.

Yarn Construction - A term used to indicate the number of singles yarns and the number of strands combined to form each successive unit of a plied yarn or cord.

Yarn Dye - The dyeing of yarns before the fabric has been woven or knitted. Yarn dyes can be dyed on beams, packages, or skeins.

Yarn Dyed Fabric - A fabric made of yarns dyed prior to weaving or knitting.

Yarn Quality - Various grades of yarn grouped by the manufacturer based on the yarn's characteristics, performance, etc. as measured against an ideal standard. These grades are usually expressed as fist quality, second quality, etc.

Yield - When applied to wholesale linens manufacturing, the number of finished units produced from a given quantity of raw materials.
