Open End Spinning - A high RPM system of spinning yarns achieved by introducing twist into the yarn without package rotation by simply rotating the yarn end.
Optical Brightener - A colorless compound that, when applied to fabric, absorbs the ultraviolet radiation in light but emits radiation in the visible spectrum, usually with a blue cast.
Optimum Twist - In spun yarns, a term used to describe the amount of twist that gives the maximum breaking strength or the maximum bulk at strength levels acceptable for weaving or knitting.
Organic Cotton - Cotton grown without pesticides from plants which are not genetically modified.
Original Twist - A term used to describe the twist in a plied yarn or cable component before it was plied.
Oxygen Bleach - A stain removal and whitening process for textiles using a non-chlorine bleach such as sodium perborate or hydrogen peroxide. Oxygen bleaches do not have as much whitening power as chlorine bleaches, but are generally less destructive to wholesale linen products.
