Waffle Weave - A dimpled fabric with a consistent, repeated pattern that resembles a honeybee comb.
Warp (or Warpwise) - Lengthwise yarns in woven fabrics that run parallel with the selvage interwoven with filling (or weft).
Washer Capacity - The manufacturer rated maximum load volume of a home or commercial washing machine. It is typically recommended that washer capacity not exceed 50% of manufacturer rated, maximum capacity when processing commercial linen products such as Milliken Table Linen. This limitation will reduce wrinkling of the wholesale linen products being processed.
Waterproof - A term applied to fabrics with closed pores that are impermeable to water and air.
Water Repellent - A term applied to fabrics that shed water, but are permeable to air.
Weave - A pattern of intersecting warp and filling yarns. There are three basic two-dimensional weaves: plain, satin, and twill. All other two-dimensional weaves are a derivative of those three.
Weaving - The method or process of interlacing warp and weft (filling) yarns to produce a finished, woven fabric. The warp yarns (ends) run lengthwise in the fabric. The weft/filling yarns (picks) run from side to side.
Wedding Linens - A term used to describe wholesale linens manufactured to be used at weddings. These linens can be either cloth or paper and can be either blank or monogrammed.
Wedding Napkins - A term used to describe napkins manufactured to be used at weddings. These napkins can be either cloth or paper and can be either blank or monogrammed.
Weft - Crosswise yarns in woven fabrics that run perpendicular to warp (also called "filler" or "filling"). Each crosswise length is called a pick.
Wholesale Linens - Sewn textile products purchased in bulk at a lower cost than retail. Frequently, wholesale linen products are purchased by wholesale linen distributors and re-sold to end users such as restaurants, hotels, country clubs, nursing homes, etc.
Wholesale Linens Distributor (Wholesale Linens Supplier) - A for-profit company that buys wholesale linen products from a variety of manufacturers and then re-sells the products to end users. Sometimes, the wholesale linen distributor will specialize in a particular product line or industry/market segment (such as hospitality, institutional, governmental, or promotional).
Wholesale Linens End User - A term used to refer to the end consumer of a wholesale linen product. For example, a restaurant would be an end user of table linen.
Wholesale Table Linen - Commercial table linen manufactured and sold in bulk at wholesale prices. Order quantities are typically expressed in dozens rather than each.
Wickability - The ability of a fabric to disperse sweat, water, or other liquid from an object.
Wicking - The process of dispersing sweat, water, or other liquid from an object.
Wild Rice Table Linen by Milliken - A style of commercial table linen fabric manufactured by Milliken & Company. The style is a slub weave fabric made of 100% polyester. It possesses outstanding soil and stain release properties, is colorfast, and is designed for maximum longevity. As a result of its relatively loose construction, Wild Rice is among the lowest maintenance of the Milliken Table Linen fabrics.
Woven Fabric - A term used to describe the end result of two sets of yarns (warp and weft) that are interlaced in a fixed pattern to make a finished fabric. The resulting woven fabric is stronger and more durable than the two sets of yarns in their unwoven state.
Wrinkle Recovery - That ability of a fabric to be restored to its original state after wrinkling. Wrinkle recovery is considered a positive attribute.
Wrinkle Resistance - That ability of a fabric to resist the formation of wrinkles despite physical actions that should otherwise create wrinkles. Wrinkle resistance is considered a positive attribute.
